Why do we no longer accept Cash on Delivery?

Due to the high number of people who chose Cash on Delivery, but who were NOT at home on the day of delivery (obviously the date was communicated in advance) we are forced to SUSPEND this service.
Even though DHL offered the possibility to reschedule the delivery or to choose to go and collect the package directly at a DHL Service Point, many people, not having paid in advance, totally ignored it... without rescheduling the delivery or going to collect the package themselves.
We have been trying to contact them for weeks with no response.
For Cash on Delivery payments, we are the ones who have to advance the cost of shipping. When a customer "disappears" we are forced to pay a new shipment to DHL to have the package returned to our office. Not to mention the storage costs... we have had packages waiting for months for customers to go and collect them (having called DHL, choosing the collection) obviously they never went.
We regret having to suspend this service, but unfortunately due to the many careless people we are forced to remove the Cash on Delivery option.
On our online store we accept various electronic payments including: Credit/Debit Cards (Poste Pay, etc.), Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Satispay and Klarna.
All payment methods to choose from meet the highest security standards.
We apologize again for removing this payment service from our site, we hope you understand that the situation had reached a point where it was no longer manageable.
We would still like to thank all those people who chose Cash on Delivery and who actually paid on delivery.
